Why I Am A Proper Author (or will be)

Why I Am A Proper Author (or will be)

Many of you know that I guest-post over on ‘Mark Williams International’. In fact all of you should know, because I put a link up here every time I post, blah blah blah, if you don’t go read them you’re not loyal etcetera.

Mark’s a bestselling e-book author, so that was quite exciting for me. But that’s not even the beginning of it, because recently I had an email that almost caused me to jump up and down in excitement. Kind of.

Well, I don’t know if I was supposed to keep it secret. I kind of doubt it, since he was going to put it out on his own blog later this week. I decided to give you the news though. Because what’s the good of a blog if people don’t hear things first from you?

I’m writing a book.

Reader: “Um, Miriam, don’t you do that all the time? Like, isn’t that your daily activity?”

Yeah, it is. But this book is different. This book will be published, and I’m not writing it alone.

Mark’s part of the ‘Saffina Desforges writing team’ – he doesn’t write alone, but with a writing partner. Cool. Well, recently, he decided to open up that team slightly for a YA series set in a boarding school, and he asked myself (Miriam) and the Spookybeast (Charley) to collaborate on it.

The series (which I only heard yesterday would be a series) is currently called St Mallory’s Forever! and is set in a girls’ boarding school near Brighton. Now, I don’t know much about it because all we’ve got is a kind-of draft for the first three kind-of chapters, which isn’t much. And we don’t really have a plot. But basically it’s going to be a YA mystery thing that should be out as an e-book by Christmas.

My first published novel. Sort of. As in, sort of mine and sort of published. (I really need to get a Kindle or something before then…)

Anyway, is there anything I can tell you about it that’s interesting? Well, it’s written as blog posts from two girls at the school, neither of whom knows the other is blogging about it, so they have very different views. One’s been at the school all along, the other’s just moved from a ‘scuzzy comprehensive school in London that I won’t name for legal reasons (ha, like they could afford lawyers)’ … so yeah, different views.

I’m not going to say any more because I will ruin it and Mark will be angry at me. Also I don’t know any more, and I’m still trying to get over the fact that I’m going to be a proper writer and you will all be able to laugh at my writing. Um.

All quotes in this post are from my section of the sort-of drafts and are liable to change. Thank you :)

Mark? Please don’t eat me for posting this already… ;D

Also, his latest book just came out. Like, literally today. Well, about lunchtime. So please support (if you have an e-reader, which I don’t), as it’s only £1.14 and that’s not too much to pay! This isn’t self-promo, it’s other-promo, therefore I am allowed to do it. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Snow-White-crime-thriller-ebook/dp/B005H8HHYC/ref=sr_1_11?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1313354166&sr=1-11

    1. I know, it would be totally ridiculous. But I’m skint, because I lost my camera and had to buy another one, so yeah … I am going to have to wait. Damn it.

What do you think? I'd love to hear your thoughts.
