November News

I should probably stop calling myself a blogger, shouldn’t I? Maybe I should opt for a more truthful title: “bookworm and writer who occasionally posts updates on their blog, roughly once a month”. It’s like… once it’s been a couple of weeks, it’s hard to know what’s worth breaking your silence for, and so it just stretches on and on. Also, it’s been busy! I’ve got a bunch of news to share with you, which I’ll do in roughly chronological…

Bard and Bookstagram

Bard and Bookstagram

It’s been a while since I did a more newsie-type blog post — I’ve been all about the Thinking(TM) recently. But I figured I’d keep you all updated on a couple of things that are going on right now. Firstly, I’m rewriting Bard. For those who aren’t aware, Bard is an Arthurian-inspiried SF novel I wrote in early 2016, posting the first draft chapter-by-chapter on Wattpad. It’s set on a distant planet that was one of Earth’s prison colonies, until…

July 2018: Dance, Jobhunting, and Camp NaNoWriMo

July 2018: Dance, Jobhunting, and Camp NaNoWriMo

I don’t seem to have the hang of the whole blogging malarkey at the moment. Sorry about that. Hoping to do a more detailed write-up of my trip to Ireland for the Blas International Summer School for Music and Dance, but my hands are… not doing too great at the moment, and I’m trying to save them as much as I can. Therefore this post will be a few brief bits of news, hopefully with some longer ones to come….

Current Events And The Small Picture

Current Events And The Small Picture

When I mentioned to my parents that I hadn’t written a blog post in two weeks, they asked me if it was because I had nothing to say. The fact is, I have plenty to say. I just don’t have the words to say it, or the will to sit at a computer until I can form them into sentences and know that what I’m writing is actually what I mean. One of the problems with blogging, I’ve found in…

Fumes and Floor (The Dry Rot Saga Continues)

Fumes and Floor (The Dry Rot Saga Continues)

The Dry Rot Saga I promised you an update on the dry rot, so here it is: I currently have a floor, which is actually fixed down, and the carpet tiles are back over it. RESULT. I also have a skirting board! Which is a more recent development. The skirting board hasn’t been painted yet, so it’s kind of an ugly shade of brown. Some of the plaster around the skirting board is a bit battered from the repairs, so…

Sixth Time Lucky

Sixth Time Lucky

What do you mean, you don’t recognise me? I’m Miriam. I’m the writer who blogs here whenever she has something in particular to say, and gives you pictures of the Doctor or Captain Jack Harkness or Gwen Cooper when she doesn’t. I’m the one who blitzes the internet with links to whatever exciting thing just happened, like an anthology being published or a video for which you need to vote. I’m the one who gets really weird search-engine terms leading…

News Passes Me By

News Passes Me By

I have a confession to make, and that is that whenever something big is happening I will almost always be the last to know. I’m not entirely sure why. It’s probably because I only ever read the supplements and not the actual newspapers, or I watch Have I Got News For You instead of the actual news, but even so I’m active on the internet and you’d think it would be harder for great events to completely pass me by…
